Quirky Jobs – Filling a gap in the job site market
Quirky Jobs is a unique and inspiring website, offering a new platform to promote and search for jobs in a highly competitive market. The jobs board has been developed and created to cater for both the niche and corporate job market.
There are nine individual and exciting categories of jobs to explore, giving the job seeker the option to select one or more at a time. They are designed to give a framework and structure to the job seeking process, whilst at the same time offering a new and different approach to the use of categorisation.
Categories incorporate the traditional jobs board’s names as well as taking a broader perspective. This gives room for those positions that don’t fit into one particular category to advertised in a more creative manner. This enables employers to post jobs over multiple categories.
On some traditional job sites, the categories are both limited and limiting, making it difficult to find and attract the right people with just the right personalities. Quirky Jobs brings a new approach to the job seeker’s experience by a creating inspirational, exciting, and motivational platform for individuals to find their next role.
How is Quirky Jobs different?
Quirky Jobs is designed to inspire and enlighten. The categories are wide reaching and allow job seekers to discover roles that they may have never known existed.
The intention for Quirky Jobs is to create a community feel. It’s not just about looking for jobs, but also reading our blog, watching our videos, and gaining knowledge of what’s possible in terms of job opportunities.
What kind of business uses Quirky Jobs?
Quirky Jobs is for all kinds of businesses and people, from banks to community centres, and from engineering firms to individuals looking for assistants.
While some employers have opportunities that need very easily definable experience and qualifications, others have more complex requirements.
Take, for example, an owner of a small business – a maker of diverse gin flavours, based in Camden, London. Business is booming and the owner needs to take on someone else to help expand. The role is creative, as the person would need to make new gins, and involves a high level of charisma and personality, for talking to visitors and inspiring them about the gins. The owner needs a very specific kind of person to work with him. The trouble is that with many traditional job sites, the categories don’t reflect this need. He would have to opt for ‘hospitality’, for example, or ‘retail’. But neither are likely to attract the right sort of candidates.
With Quirky Jobs, on the other hand, this business owner could list his opportunity in several categories – perhaps, ‘Creativity’, ‘Something new’ and ‘Working with people.’ He may also list the job in ‘Hospitality’ for good measure. These broad categories are likely to attract job seekers with different personality blends, increasing the likelihood of our business owner finding just the right person for his gin company.
